Second to None

Monthly District Activities

The Second Masonic District invites you to a DEO Presentation by WB Alvin Angel and Guest Speaker, RWB Russ Hernes, hosted by John W. Durst Lodge at the Dayton Masonic Center.

Title of program: Cathedrals Built by the Masons. This is a lecture and color slide program of European Cathedrals accompanied by a display of primitive hand tools that would have built them. A few of the tools date from the 1500’s and 1600’s.

RWB Hurnes will discuss the Operative to Speculative Masonry transition.

Date of the program: Friday night May 13th, 2022

Time of Refreshments: Light Refreshments at 06:00 pm in the Billiard Room

Time of the Program: 07:00 pm in the Asylum (3rd floor)

Dress: Coat and Tie

This program will be open to the public for all to enjoy.

The Book “Cathedrals Built by the Masons” will be available for purchase before and after the program at a cost of $40 a copy. RWB Russ has graciously agreed to be available for book signing.

The book documents the origin and development of Freemasonry, and how it descended directly from the Operative Stonemasons of the Middle Ages.

It tells the story of how the Master Builder and Craftsman designed and built the beautiful Masterpieces of architecture called cathedrals.

It explains the Operative History of our Craft!  The coffee table book is 9″ X 12″, hard bound, full color, 259 photos and illustration, with a dust jacket, and 240 pages.

We look forward to seeing you there. Please contact WB Alvin Angel with any questions.

Brethren:

As you all know by now, the Valley of Dayton is one of the sponsors of our new Dayton Chapter of DeMolay at the Dayton Masonic Center. Our new Chapter will meet from 7:00pm-8:30pm on the first and third Wednesday of each month starting March 6, 2019.

Attached is a Petition for Degrees. Each of you know a young man 12 to 21 years old who might enjoy the fellowship of DeMolay. The cost for a life membership is $35. We would urge that you approach the parents and young man about some of the advantages of DeMolay.  For further information, refer them to BeADeMolay.org. Completed petitions can be returned to the Dayton Masonic Center addressed to the Chapter (Dayton Chapter DeMolay, Dayton Masonic Center, 525 W. Riverview Ave., Dayton OH 45405).

We still need Advisors … We need as many as we can get. You can go toDeMolay.org, and click on “Get Involved.” When you get to the place where you need to pay for registration, contact Randy Clark. Randy can also answer any questions you may have (hit reply to this email or call the office at 937-222-9103).

This is the 100th year of DeMolay. If Dayton Chapter will succeed, it depends on the most active members of our Valley – you.
