To my Esteemed 2nd District Masonic Brothers,
Warm fraternal greetings to each of you in the spirit of brotherly love, relief and truth. As we continue our labor in the quarries of our noble Craft, I wish to take a moment to share a few thoughts about our shared “Commitment to the Craft.”
Our fraternity has stood in the test of centuries because it has always been grounded in principle, not in fleeting trends or personal ambition. Every Brother who wears the Square and Compasses has taken an oath to uphold the highest moral and ethical standards, not only with the Lodge but in every aspect of their daily lives. This is not always an easy path. Yet it is through these challenges that our light shines brightest, guiding others by our example.
In our district, I have witnessed encouraging signs of renewed dedication. Brethren are attending meetings with greater regularity, assisting in degree work, mentoring new and younger masons, and engaging in charitable service within our communities. These actions however simple they may see, are the living proof of our Commitment to the Craft. Let us continue this momentum by remembering that Masonry is not merely something we attend; it is something we live.
I encourage every brother to continue studying the ritual and the deeper teachings of our order. Take time to reflect upon the symbolism, the lessons of the degrees, and how they can be applied to strengthen your character and leadership. True Masonic growth does not come solely from years of membership, but from the steady refinement of the heart and mind through the working tools of our profession (Craft).
Let us also renew our bond of unity. A lodge thrives when there is harmony among its members. Disagreements may arise, but they should always be met with tolerance, understanding, and the firm’s resolve to seek peace and mutual respect. In the Lodge, every brother stands equal regardless of the situation. It is this equality that is both our strength and our sacred trust.
As we look ahead to the coming months and year, let us rededicate ourselves to being more active, present, and a faithful Mason. Let us serve not for recognition, but for the quiet satisfaction of knowing we are contributing to something timeless and good. When we labor together in sincerity, the Light of Freemasonry will continue to shine brightly for generations to yet come.
May the Great Architect of the Universe guide your thoughts, your word, and deed as you continue to be “Committed to the Craft.”
With Fraternal affection and steadfast commitment,
Rick Gabbard, R.S.S.
